Has that new years resolution been broken yet? If so, fear not, I’ve come across a suggestion of a unique way to get motivated to start the year on the healthier side. I for one will be implementing this as well.
The first thing to do is determine how you feel. Do you feel good? Or do feel like there is work to be done? If you determine that there is work to be done and you want to improve on your physical health, then you are ready to put this strategy in place. This part is the most important part of the strategy. Get a small group of 3 to 5 people and agree to fully commit to this weight loss challenge. Agree on things like exercises, weigh-ins, and a modified diet. Modifying your diet during the week is a good idea. Cutting out empty calories from sugary drinks and sweets will go a long way in helping you be successful with the challenge. If you want to splurge for meals, drinks, and junk food, the best time to do so is on the weekend. Splurging on the weekend is totally fine if you stick to a modified diet during the week.
You should also make the challenge fun. Get each person in the group to put in $10 dollars each and at the end of the challenge the person that loses the most weight collects the money. The challenge should preferably start in January and last a maximum of 6 to 7 months in order to ensure that you see results. The challenge is flexible enough to let you start at your own time frame. Now, he foundation of the strategy is in place.
In order to be successful with this strategy, it is important to periodically check in on everyone in the group throughout the duration of the challenge. Check on each other’s progress with weigh-ins as often as possible. If someone is not making progress or losing patience with the strategy, encourage them, and keep them motivated. Keeping each other motivated is just as important as keeping you motivated. Knowing that you have this group of people to support you should help to keep you motivated to shed those pounds.
The final thing to do at the conclusion of the challenge is to throw a party. All members of the group get together, have a weigh in, and no matter who lost the most everyone should be happy with the result, and the work and effort they put into it. At the end of the day, the whole point of the challenge is to motivate you, and get you on the right track to being physically active and conscious about how you treat yourself physically. If you are the one that lost the most pounds, congratulations are in order, just remember to be gracious and collect the cash from the jar.
I hope this unique challenge is beneficial to you. Here’s to a healthy year for all in 2017.
