Ralph’s Reviews: ACM- Academy of Country Music Awards Recap and Winners

Like most awards shows, it was a star studded afar. What was supposed to be different didn't necessarily start out that way. It was heavily promoted that the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards were to be hosted this year by Luke Bryan and his new co-host Dierks Bentley. It had been Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton as host the past couple of years. During Luke Bryan’s opening performance of his new single ‘huntin’, fishin’, and Lovin’ Every Day’ Bryan introduced his new co-host Dierks Bentley, Bentley was due to walk on stage. However, Blake Shelton had other intentions as he literally stole the mic from Dierks and Shelton then walked out on stage. After Luke Bryan’s performance he then formally introduced Blake Shelton for him to perform his performance of his single ‘Came Here to Forget’ After all that chaos the show was off and running.

Now, what you’ve been waiting for... Here Are the Winners... You know the ones that took home to trophies.

Dolly Parton Received the Tex Ritter Award for the Film ‘Coat of Many Colors’

Old Dominion accepted the award for New Vocal Group of the Year prior to the show.

Chris Stapleton stole the night again in Country Music by winning three categories.

The highlight of the night was Dolly Parton receiving the Tex Ritter award as Katy Perry introduced Dolly Parton, and then the two performed on stage. Those two were great on stage together performing some of Dolly’s greatest hits which included, ‘Coat of Many Colors’, ‘Jolene’, and ‘9 to 5’. Probably the coolest part was that Katy Perry got to perform on stage with someone she idolized in Dolly Parton, and just having Dolly Parton grace the stage at the ACM’s with her presence was amazing. The night did not disappoint.
